LinksPlease visit the following links for reference. Conservation Organizations Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA) - AZA zoos and aquariums are places where people connect with animals. We are therefore dedicated to excellence in animal care and welfare, conservation, education, and research that collectively inspire respect for animals and nature. Office of Recreational Services (ORS) - ORS provides recreation planning and design services for the wildlife management area system as well as fresh water and marine areas managed by the FWC and implements a variety of wildlife viewing and recreational enhancements. The Butterfly Conservation Initiative (BFCI) - The Butterfly Conservation Initiative is dedicated to the conservation of threatened, endangered, and vulnerable North American butterflies and the habitats that sustain them, with a focus on recovery, research, and education. The Florida Natural Areas Inventory (FNAI) - The mission of the FNAI is to collect, interpret, and disseminate ecological information critical to the conservation of Florida's biological diversity. FNAI's expertise facilitates environmentally sound planning and natural resource management. The Illinois Butterfly Monitoring Network (IBMN) - The IBMN is a citizen scientist program monitoring the health of butterfly populations throughout northeastern and central Illinois. Since 1987, the IBMN has grown from seven sites monitored to more that 100 sites with over 3000 routes run. Educational Institutions The McGuire Center for Lepidoptera and Biodiversity - The McGuire Center for Lepidoptera and Biodiversity is dedicated to the interpretation, research, and contribution of Lepidoptera in biodiversity and the environment. University of Florida Department of Entomology and Nematology (IFAS) - The Department's mission is to be a world leader in entomology and nematology by conducting superior research, delivering quality teaching, and extending knowledge to improve agriculture, the environment, and human health and well-being. Participating Zoological Institutions Central Florida Zoological Park - The Central Florida Zoological Park is dedicated to the conservation and preservation of native and exotic wildlife, and is home to over 400 animals. Lowry Park Zoo - Lowry Park Zoo's mission is "To connect people with the Living Earth." As a nonprofit, cultural organization committed to conservation, Lowry Park Zoo exhibits Florida wildlife and animals from habitats similar to Florida's. The Brevard Zoo - Brevard Zoo's mission is wildlife conservation through education and participation. Brevard zoo is a recognized conservation leader in the zoo community and serves as a model for what small dedicated zoos can accomplish. The Miami MetroZoo - Miami MetroZoo's commitment to worldwide conservation efforts serves as the cornerstone of our mission to "encourage an appreciation for the worldís wildlife and to help conserve it for future generations. |
